Toyota beats Volkswagen in 2020 international automobile sales
Toyota Motor offered more lorries worldwide than Volkswagen in 2020, dismissing the German competing as the world’s biggest carmaker for the very first time in 5 years regardless of falling sales amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, results revealed on Thursday.
The Toyota group, consisting of Daihatsu Motor and Hino Motors, reported that its international group sales fell 11.3 percent from the previous year to 9.5 million automobiles.
However, the Japanese producer of the Prius hybrid and Lexus high-end car stated its sales in China leapt 10.9 percent year on year to almost 1.8 million automobiles, while it offered 2.1 million systems in the United States, its most significant market, down 11.3 percent from the previous year.
Sales in North America “have been gradually recovering since May and have been flat or up year on year since September,” Toyota stated.
Toyota stated its international output fell 14.1 percent to 9.2 million automobiles in 2015 as the pandemic required the Japanese carmaker to stop car production briefly in lots of parts of the world.
The Volkswagen group saw its international sales plunge 15.2 percent year on year to 9.3 million systems in 2020, it stated previously this month.
