Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB have arrested three people with fake Indian currency worth lakhs, after conducting a raid in a house in Rajshahi city on Sunday.
RAB-5 officer-in-charge, Abdullah Al Murad, said that the team arrested the trio from a two-storey house of one Noor Miah at Bou Bazar area in Ramchandrapur around 2 pm on Sunday.
The accused have been identified as Rubel Hossain, a third-year student of Godagari Degree College, Mosaddek Hossain of Chapainawabganj and Jahangir of Natore district.
RAB official Abdullah Murad said acting on a piece of information, the detectives started the surveillance from 2:00 am. A team of RAB entered Noor Miah’s house at around 12:15 pm after the information was confirmed.
“Three people were arrested and Rs 10 lakh fake Indian currency and fake currency making equipment were seized,” he said, adding, “Rubel Hossain was arrested in Chapainawabganj even last year. At that time, fake Rs one crore were seized from him.”
The RAB official said the accused were making fake currency ahead of the Eid-ul-Zoha cattle market business.
